The pioneering approach of CARE France

Climate change adaptation is becoming a more pressing issue as the certainty of the impacts have become clearer over the past years. For almost a decade, CARE France has been progressively engaged on the integration of adaptation issues in its programs and actions and today, 2 projects out of 10 integrate this issue. Thanks to actions of capacity building and sensitization of the headquarters and field teams, CARE France is one of the few French NGOs that have developed and applied methodologies for climate change adaptation integration. This report provides information on the approach for climate change adaptation implemented so far and the key recommendations to follow in the years to come.

Défini comme axe prioritaire de travail par le réseau CARE International, le changement climatique a fait l’objet d’une attention particulière depuis 5 ans. CARE France a ainsi mené sur cette période une trentaine de projets liés à l’adaptation au changement climatique sur 18 pays. Afin de mettre en exergue l’approche spécifique de l’ONG sur l’adaptation et ses résultats sur le terrain, mais aussi pour continuer d’améliorer ses pratiques en matière d’adaptation, CARE France a souhaité disposer d’un document synthétique de capitalisation.
