Strengthening Resilience and Promoting Inclusive Governance Program (STRENPO)
In this document, Care International in Uganda presents to you experiences and lessons learned while implementing Strengthening Resilience and Promoting Inclusive Governance for Women and Youth in Vulnerable Communities Project (STRENPO). At CARE, we are using the nexus of humanitarian and long-term development to build resilience that bridges humanitarian action and sustainable development. Our approach to increasing resilience operates in synergy with gender transformation and inclusive governance.
This publication highlights key approaches that worked in STRENPO. It includes achievements and challenges during project implementation and makes key recommendations for any civil society organizations to consider in implementing refugee community resilience initiatives. The publication also highlights the models used to empower citizens, including: engaging duty bearers; building civil society organizational capacity to engage with the duty bearers, claim citizens’ rights and provide information to citizens; building organization legitimacy; and supporting multi-stakeholder platforms for engagement and informing policy processes.
