Peru
Peru is a country with a highly diverse climate, shaped by its three main regions: the coast, the Andes, and the Amazon. The northern Andes are subject to frosts, while the southern Andes are more prone to drought. The Amazon rainforest and the eastern lowlands generally experience high temperatures and heavy rainfall throughout the year (World Bank Climate Change Portal).
Rising temperatures, changing rainfall patterns, and more frequent extreme weather events are disrupting agriculture, fisheries, and water resources. Melting glaciers threaten water security and hydropower generation, while coastal communities face increasing risks from sea level rise and extreme weather. Climate change is also exacerbating health risks, including the spread of infectious diseases. These impacts disproportionately affect vulnerable populations, particularly those living in rural areas and low-income communities (UNEP GRID-Geneva).
