Indigenous Knowledge Identification and use in Community-Based Adaptation Practices
CARE in Vietnam staff realized that indigenous knowledge plays an important role in maintaining and developing livelihood strategies suitable for the specific economic, political, and social conditions of each local area, especially in relation to the current impacts caused by climate change.
These guidelines are a step by step description of the way in which CARE in Vietnam staff sought to integrate indigenous knowledge into a community-based adaptation (CBA) program. These guidelines are of use to any practitioner hoping to use the existing wealth of local knowledge and practices to shape and support their project activities.
