Over a 17-year trajectory, he has worked on community-based adaptation; dryland natural resource management and pastoral resilience; community-managed disaster risk reduction and productive safety-nets, and; sustainable agriculture, covering the cycle of strategy development; program design; implementation and management; and monitoring, evaluation, and learning. Alebachew has contributed to the design of National and Regional Climate Change Adaptation Plans, the Ethiopian Climate Resilient Green Economy Strategy (CRGE), and the mainstreaming of climate change, gender equality and environmental concerns in the Comprehensive African Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP). Alebachew combines diversified sectoral knowledge, a robust technical toolkit, and deep commitment to transparent, inclusive and adaptive program implementation - making use of the best available quantitative and qualitative evidence to inform and communicate progress and support broad-based learning.
