REPORT CARD: Where is Gender Equality in National Climate Plans (NDCS)?
The Paris Agreement on Climate Change requires countries to submit new or updated national climate action plans, the so-called Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) every five years.
This report analyses the most recent NDCs (as of 16 November 2020) in regards to their gender performance. A scorecard approach has been used whereby countries are ranked in different groups according to how they have integrated gender equality throughout their NDCs. The analysis applies WEDO’s Gender Climate Tracker NDC review framework.
Ahead of the UN Climate Ambition Summit taking place on 12 December, marking the 5th Anniversary of the Paris Agreement, CARE calls on all countries to submit more ambitious climate plans in 2020 and build resilience for the poorest with gender equality as core to climate action.CARE climate change
