Understanding Vulnerability to Climate Change
Insights from Application of CARE’s Climate Vulnerability and Capacity Analysis (CVCA) Methodology
The purpose of this report is to provoke thought, dialogue and debate by practitioners and policy makers on the issue of vulnerability to climate change and on approaches to vulnerability assessment in policy and in practice. Three case studies provide snapshots of the realities of vulnerable communities in Vietnam, Peru and Ghana that are already feeling the effects of climate change. The case studies provide context for a series of reflections on vulnerability, which draw on the case studies as well as on CARE’s broader experience in analyzing vulnerability to climate change with communities around the world, using our Climate Vulnerability and Capacity Analysis (CVCA) methodology.
